Barry Alldrick, John Bolton, Bob Holman and Gina Wilcox founded East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club to provide regular opportunities and a warm welcome for motivated experienced or inexperienced open water swimmers to improve:
- Competitive training
We are a friendly club and plan to meet at Shore Road, Poole on Tuesday evenings at 6pm for check in by 6.15pm (from 18 April 2017 through to mid October). Naturally the decision to swim is subject to weather and sea conditions. We will again be offering informal swims for experienced club open water swimmers on Sundays from the same venue (date and times to be confirmed). Taster sessions for 2017 are available on 16 May, 23 May, 6 June, 13 June, 20 June, 27 June, 4 July, 11 July, 1 August, 15 August and 5 September (unless notified otherwise). If bad weather prevents this, it will be on the next avaiilable taster date in the month. The tasters start at the same time as the club sessions.
Thanks to support from Poole Borough Borough Council, we are again negotiating a lease on refurbished male and female changing rooms with hot showers!
There are qualified coaches to support your open water swimming.
Our group includes and targets
- swimmers 16 and over training for ASA open water competitions,
- swimmers preparing to swim the English Channel, individually or as part of a 2/4/6 person relay
- triathletes looking to improve their swimming skills
- cold water swimmers
- recreational sea swimmers
- those new to open water swimming
Annual Club membership and training fee is £22/year. Annual affiliation fees (which we pay to ASA, Dorset ASA and ASA SW Region) are also collected unless you have already paid your 2017 fees to another ASA club.
Taster Sessions are £3 for each swim.
