Entries are now open for this year’s SW Regional Open Water Championships, which also incorporate Dorset ASA Open Water Championships.

Open Water Swimming Officials needed in South West

Do you want to officiate at events in the open air, rather than in a steamy swimming pool? Well you can enjoy the benefits of sun, sea and sand whilst judging a swimming event!

ASA SW Region are running development courses for existing and new officials during the 2016 season:

Saturday 28 May 2016 – Cheddar Pool, classroom and pool sessions
Saturday 4 June 2016 – Weymouth, practical sessions on beach and boat. Learn about officiating at Open Water events, update on rules from the 2013 FINA Congress. Practical experience in boats and with swimmers. Plus “ Spot the Foul”.

Congratulations to all nine swimmers who took part in our 10km swim on 13 September 2015. With very testing conditions and a ‘lumpy’ sea, everyone swam magnificently!

Gerry Griffin, Membership Secretary, has emailed a request for information NOW from members intending to participate in the swim from Sandbanks to Southbourne on 13 Sep 2015. Even if you have indicated your interest in this swim Gerry will still need you to respond by return so that we have your emergency contact details.

It will not be possible to transport any personal items from the start to the finish. Your beach walker MUST carry all your clothing and belongings – NO BEACH WALKER NO SWIM!

EDOWSC 10km Swim 2015

Our annual 10km swim from Sandbanks to Southbourne will take place on 13 September 2015.

Further information will follow but please remember each participant will need to bring a beach walker.

Congratulations to Emily Clarke, 18 (1:11:55, 2nd SW 17-18 age group, 1st Dorset, 2nd overall: 5km), Chloe Roxburgh, 17 (1:26:30, 2nd SW U18, 1st Dorset 6th overall: 5km), Jordan Young, 17 (1:13:33, 2nd SW 17-18 age group, 1st Dorset, 5km, 4th overall) on their results at Weymouth on 28 June 2015.

Entries open for the 2015 ASA Open Water National Championships

The two day competition at Rother Valley Park, Sheffield will see top open water swimmers compete for national titles in Masters events on Sunday 2 August 2015, and national Age Group events on Monday 3 August 2015.

Entries for the National Age Groups events close at 12 noon on 1 July 2015, while entries for Masters events close at 12 noon on 16 July 2015.
