This event returns to Preston Beach, Weymouth on Saturday and Sunday 29 and 30 June 2013:

The 10km Reg Blackburn Trophy Race will be held on the Saturday afternoon.

As at 6 February this is the only 10km race in Britain this year. It is hoped to have another 10km race, swum concurrently, which will be for swimmers not competing in the Reg Blackburn race.

On Sunday there will be 750m, 1,5km, 2km, 3km and 5km races. These will commence from 10am with the first briefing at 9am.

Dorset County ASA Open Water Age Groups and Masters Competitions 2013

For those of you who enjoy the challenge of swimming around islands (Brownsea Swim anyone?), SwimtheIsland open water swimming event takes place in the fascinating Marine Protected Area of Bergeggi, on the north-west coast of Italy.

The race course takes place in a spectacular natural setting, offering swimmers the vision of one of the most extraordinary seabeds in the Mediterranean sea. 270 swimmers entered the 1.7km / 3.5km events in 2011 and 480 in 2012.

FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup 2013 – Viedma

This annually staged elite-level competition is organised around seven meets and takes place in some of the world’s most amazing natural water bodies, either freshwater (lake, rowing course, river) or saltwater (sea).

This video (4m 45s) covers the second leg of the 2013 circuit, which took place in Viedma (ARG) on 2 February 2013.

FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix 2013 – Hernandarias, Rosario and Santa Fe

Since 2008, the Grand Prix offers the world’s best open water swimmers the opportunity of competing in an annual circuit comprising distances over 10km.

View videos from the first three legs of the 2013 circuit in Argentina: a 7 lap river swim in Rosario (15km) on 27 January 2013; a 57km swim along the Rio Coronda river from Santa Fe to Coronda on 3 February 2013; and an 88km swim from Hernandarias to Parana on 10 February 2013.

Henley Mile Junior Races 2013

Sunday 14 July 2013, starting at 9.30am.

Taking place over the iconic Royal Henley Regatta boomed course, with full water and land safety in place and electronic chip timing; these races are the perfect introduction to open water swimming for junior swimmers aged between 8 and 14 years.

The junior races will take place around midday, after the main feature, a one mile swim, which also includes a 14 to 18 junior category.

Entry Forms will be available from www.rlss-poole.org.uk during the last week of February 2013

Mailing lists are not available, however a facebook group for the 2013 swim is available.

Feel Good and Get Active with the Ecover Blue Mile

The Ecover Blue Mile is a mass-participation water sports event designed to get the nation feeling good whilst getting active and raising vital funds to support the work carried out by leading environmental charity, WWF, to help protect our rivers and seas.

A full two day programme of water activities that includes the Ecover Blue Mile open water swim, kayak, stand-up paddle board and Aquatriathlon (all three disciplines combined in one event for individuals and corporate teams), plus new to the programme for 2012 is a half mile open water swim, and the one mile Walk for Water, which follows a panoramic route around Plymouth’s stunning waterfront.
