If you’ve ever considered swimming in the great outdoors like Keri-Anne Payne or David Davies and giving Open Water Swimming a try, now is your chance.
The inaugural ASA Open Water 1km Swim is taking place on Sunday 1 August 2010 at Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield and is open to anyone 12 years or over who can swim 1,500m non-stop.
18 July 2010 – Whitlingham Outdoor Centre, near Norwich
Entry forms are now available for the 2010 East Region Open Water Championships which include swims over 800m, 1.5k, 3k and 5k.
The 3k race will also include swimmers competing in the British Gas ASA Open Water 3km Masters Championship (download entry pack)

Are you too young to enter other Open Water events?
If you can answer yes to any of these questions and are aged 11 before 31 Dec 2010, you can swim in this new 750m distance swim, held under ASA Laws and FINA Technical Rules and aimed primarily at the 11 to 12 years old group.
Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 of July 2010 – Granville
French club Espérance Vaillante Granville Natation would like to would like to introduce more British swimmers to their event, which is part of the FFN French Open Water Cup.
Granville is a small fishing town in Normandy, not far from major ferry routes and airports. A number of swimmers from Jersey regularly take part in the different events as well as 200 swimmers licensed with the French Swimming Federation.
Incorporating Dorset County ASA and Somerset ASA Championships and under ASA Laws and ASA Technical Rules.

Race 1: 6 June. Box End, lake swim (Bedfordshire)
Race 2: 13 June. South Cerney (Gloucestershire)
Race 3: 8 August. Bournemouth, sea swim (Dorset)
Race 4: 26 September. Dorney Lake, lake swim (Berkshire)
We need many more judges to support the increasing interest in open water competitions.

We are in the process of putting together the 2010 event calendar which will feature a mix of competitive and fun events for open water swimmers, triathletes and recreational swimmers.
