A more detailed programme and briefing with be issued in due course, but here is an outline of the swims on 14 Aug 2016.
We will be running regular events and get-togethers throughout the season, including Social evenings immediately following taster sessions on 7 June, 5 July, 2 August. We will provide more details closer to each event but we hope they will provide not only nibbles and drinks but an opportunity to get to know new members and share in the fun, enjoyment and challenges of open water swimming.
Our AGM will be held on Sun 7 Feb 2016. The function room at The Junction, Broadstone has been booked from 12 to 4pm. The AGM from 1.30pm will be preceded by a finger buffet (12.15pm to 1.15pm). Following the AGM there will be a discussion and talk / video on:
– the Future of the Club
– Bob Holman’s Channel Swim
We need to confirm number of attendees who wish to eat by 20 January so please inform Gerry now.
We have received personal invitations for 10 lucky EDOWSC club members to join Seahorse Swim 2015 prize sponsors Kitbrix on a ride across the Purbecks in the afternoon of Thursday 19 November 2015 and then go straight on to their launch night and networking evening from 5pm at Rockets & Rascals, Poole.
Thanks Ali for organising the club’s 6th Swim Treck and Roger for sharing the photos in our gallery. With magical weather, clear calm seas, this year’s Iconic swims took us from Durdle Door to Man o War Bay and Lulworth Cove to Stairhole, and for the first time we were able to swim through both arches.
Club members are asked to inform Ali Budynkiewicz (email@example.com) if wishing to attend. Even if you had previously expressed an interest, please confirm that you still wish to participate.
It is hoped that some of the more experienced swimmers might swim from Durdle Door to Lulworth.
As in previous years, our end of season lunch on 8 November 2015 at RNLI College, Poole will be preceded by the traditional swim for those who so desire.
The lunch will be a celebration of EDOWSC’s year with some serious and some light-hearted awards. It is intended to be a relaxed social gathering with time for members to mingle.
The swimtrek planned for Sunday 23 August has been cancelled as the weather is predicted to be windy and wet and we know how quickly things do change. It wouldn’t be enjoyable picnicking and walking that distance in the rain, and the long swim isn’t feasible in high winds.
Thanks everybody who supported our social event after swimming on 4 August, brought food and drink and helped to clear the tables afterwards. Special thanks go to Nicky Sadler for the time and effort laying out such an impressive spread of food which was much appreciated.
Short swims at several iconic beaches along the Jurassic Coast. Meet at Durdle Door Car Park at 8am on 23 August 2015.
Our friends at RLSS will provide a support boat to escort any swimmers wishing to swim from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove as part of the SwimTreck for which a swim visibility tow float is mandatory.
As with the whole SwimTreck individuals pick which bits of the swim they wish to participate in – nothing is forced and you are encouraged to swim within your abilities.
