To celebrate another successful open water swimming season, we plan to meet in the bar at 12.30 for drinks, followed by lunch. For the hardy souls who wish to enjoy(!) a bracing sea swim beforehand, the changing room at Shore Road will be available from 10.30am until noon.
Joan and Ali have organised the fifth open water SwimTrek along the Dorset coast – Sunday 27 July. There will be no organised Club Swim at Shore Road that evening as most will have been taking part. Details of the event have been emailed to club members. who need to contact Joan to register.
Swimming is a sport for life as Jaring Timmerman, who turned age 105 in February, proved when he swam for a world record in Winnipeg on 24 January 2014.
The committee would like to invite EDOWSC members and volunteers to a Summer Social on Tues 8 July 2014 at Shore Road from 7.30pm after our normal #openwater swim. Please bring a plate & a bottle to share.
A brand new timed, open water swim takes place off Weymouth’s stunning beach on the weekend of 19-20 July and members of our club have been invited to take part at a very special discounted rate. Read on for details.
The swims take place on the Saturday over 2 distances: 750m and 1 mile.
Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute to host 500 of the world’s leading open water swimming athletes and practitioners for a two day conference in September 2014 which will include a series of talks from internationally recognised speakers, a 2k open water swim in St Ninian’s Bay, a hall of fame induction ceremony and an awards lunch.
