Our very own Wild Swimmer

Right everyone, it is time to set your digital / video recorders. Bob Holman and his friend Dave Pratten are appearing with Robson Green in his Wild Swimming Adventure programme due to go out on ITV1 at 9pm on Tuesday 8 December 2009, with the second part on 15 December 2009.

Sonia O’Sullivan swaps her running shoes for goggles

Sydney Olympic 5000m silver medallist and double World Cross Country Champion Sonia O’Sullivan is Ireland’s greatest ever runner. Having now hung up her spikes after a spectacular running career, O’Sullivan’s latest challenge involves swapping her running shoes for goggles proving that swimming is a sport that can be enjoyed by all.

O’Sullivan took part in the inaugural British Gas Great East Swim which took place at Alton Water in Suffolk on 26 September 2009.

Castle to Castle Open Water Swim 2009

Wonder if Steve McFadden, better known to millions of soap fans as Phil Mitchell in Eastenders, remembered this famous exchange from 1985 before setting a fantastic example by joining 38 open water swimmers in Falmouth to help raise cash for the RNLI:
Andy: We are going to be clinically obese.
Sam Mitchell: Yeah, but you’ll still love me when I’m fat, won’t you?
Andy: No
