View FINA video (9m 49s) of a presentation on 10km open water swimmer Eva Risztov given by Ferenc Kovacshegyi (HUN) at 1st FINA Gold Medal Swimming Coaches Clinic in Moscow.

The Oct 2012 event was attended by more than 400 swimming coaches from 100 nations. It offered a golden opportunity over two days to exchange ideas, experience and knowledge with top-level coaches from swimming powerhouses such as the USA, Australia and China and was praised by many participants.

Friday 15 March 2013 from 12 to 3pm – Littledown Centre, Bournemouth

This Sport Coach UK practical workshop equips coaches with the knowledge and skills needed to grow and sustain participation beyond the first few ses-sions. Coaches will learn about new participants’ needs, including how to build their self-confidence. Ultimately, how people feel about those first few sessions will ensure they keep coming back again and again.

Details of CPD course, delivered by Dan Bullock and accredited and approved by the ASA Awarding Body as contributing towards the ASA Teacher/Coach Licensing Scheme and/or Personal Development. It is aimed at Swim Coaches interested in this emerging field of racing and participation. Club swim leaders are advised to contact Gerry Griffin to express their level of interest.

Previous ASA qualifications are not applicable as a minimum requirement since this is a new area for most.

British Swimming appoints Mark Perry as Development Coach

British Swimming has apointed Mark Perry, the current Open Water Performance Manager, to a new duel role which will see him incorporate the development role into his current remit. His new job title will be British Development and Open Water Coach.

Perry, who started his career as a coach is relishing the opportunity to spend more time with the coaches and swimmers to drive the sport forward.
