The ASA has expressed its disappointment that Free Swimming will stop shortly but acknowledges tough funding decisions have to be made by Government.

The Department of Culture, Media and Sport have on Thursday 17 June 2010 announced Free Swimming for those aged 16 and under and over 60 will be cancelled as part of savings of around £73 million.

A new open water swimming site in South Bucks between Maidenhead and Slough has opened in April. The 30 Acre lake is approx 450 meters long with measured courses. It is not very deep and so warms up quickly! There are changing facilities, showers, hot drinks /food and free Wi-fi access. It is open 6.30am to 10.00 weekdays and 6.30am to 9.00 weekends. We are currently considering applying for an affordable annual license to use separate male / female changing rooms (possibly with a hot shower … woooo!) adjacent to Shore Road Beach Office. Another organisation also has access to the facility but uses it infrequently.
