East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club has presented a cheque for £400 to RLSS Poole Lifeguards in recognition of the support given by RLSS Poole and Branksome lifeguards to its annual Seahorse Swim. The donation will be shared by the two organisations.

A number of volunteers from our Club will be offering their support to the Brownsea Island Swim taking place on 31 July 2011.

Over 40 RLSS members supported our event and we urge more of our Club members who are not competing in the event and their partners to reciprocate and confirm their availability to volunteer by emailing Gerry Griffin (Gerry-Wareham2003@hotmail.co.uk).

Knoll Beach, Studland

Our original intention was to hold a 3.8km swim which was open to wetsuit and non-wetsuit competitors. The start was delayed due to weather conditions. With the offshore sea mist only clearing slowly and the safety of swimmers paramount, a decision was made to adapt the course from a triangular one to a 3.6km race parallel to the shoreline.

Swimmers from all over the UK entered the race. We hope to see you all again at one of our future events.

We look forward to welcoming competitors to our second annual Seahorse Swim on 26 June 2011 at Knoll Beach, Studland.

East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club are organising the second open water swim across Studland Bay, near Swanage on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, in conjunction with the National Trust and in support of the Studland Seagrass & Seahorse study group. The swim will be held in affiliation with the BLDSA for wetsuit and non wetsuit competitors.

East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club has held its inaugural Seahorse Challenge open water swim race in the beautiful Studland Bay on 27 June 2010. The race had been eight months in the planning and attracted a high class field of competitors from all over Southern England and the Midlands.

The event was held by kind permission of the National Trust and run in support of the National Trust and the The Studland Seagrass and Seahorse Study Group.
