Congratulations to East Dorset Open water Swimming Club member, Dave Doust, who despite having an achilles problem, finished 3rd in the 60-64 age group at the 2010 European Triathlon Championships, hosted for the first time in Athlone on 4 July.

Gone swimming

Paolo De Luca (pictured) has just competed in the Nice triathlon (Swim 1:10:15; T1 00:08:13; Bike 6:54:37; T2 00:06:20; Run 4:31:48 - 12:51:13). Well done!

Mike Trew will shortly be competing in a treble triathlon in Germany - 7.5 miles swim, 340 miles on the bike and 78 miles run!

Bob Holman has also entered the Stert Island and Burgh Island swims later this month. Best wishes to everyone competing in the Brownsea Island swim on 24 July 2010. And if anyone else has entered competitions, let us know.

Integrating Triathletes into Masters Clubs

In these two videos which feature plenty of technique tips, Doug Vanderby of North Toronto Masters discusses their approach to integrating triathletes into their Masters Swimming club. In 1996, Vanderby achieved a swimming grand slam: winning the 50m breaststroke at the Canadian Championship in Victoria, the FINA World Championships in Montreal and the U.S. Championship in Buffalo.
