H2Open Magazine launches Britain’s first National Open Water Swimming Ranking Series
H2Open, the World’s first dedicated open water swimming magazine, has joined forces with seven race organisers to create Britain’s first National Open Water Swimming Ranking Series for 2012.
The concept is simple. Swimmers will have to complete three of the seven races to participate and will be awarded points based on their finishing position. The top swimmers in each age group will be crowned national champions at the end of the year. Race distances range from 1 mile to 5 km and take place in the sea, rivers and lakes around Britain.

We are a group of open water swimming enthusiasts of varying abilities. Our members range from competitive swimmers and triathletes to social swimmers who enjoy swimming in relative safety with like-minded people. Swimmers are organised into small groups of similar abilities. When possible, the club arranges for safety cover in the form of accompanying kayaks and beach walking observers
Our Tuesday sessions recommence in April 2012 through to September and Sunday sessions begin in May 2012 (start dates to be confirmed). You will find more information on the Club and how to join under the About menu tab.
If you can swim continuously for a minimum of 30 minutes, why not give Gerry, our Membership Secretary a call on 07532 187 680 or simply click on the Contact menu tab and leave us a message.

Our thriving Club is supported entirely by volunteers – people like you. Even if you don't fancy a dip in the sea, we can always do with more help. You could:
– walk the beach, ensuring swimmers have a safe enjoyable experience
– man one of our safety canoes as a qualified lifeguard.
– take the register so we know all our swimmers are accounted for
– help prepare refreshments and hot drinks.
And if that hasn't whetted your appetite, Gerry Griffin will happily get you involved
You can contact Gerry by email: Gerry-Wareham2003@hotmail.co.uk

Seahorse Swim 2011 - 26 June 2011 Knoll Beach, Studland
Our original intention was to hold a 3.8km swim which was open to wetsuit and non-wetsuit competitors. The start was delayed due to weather conditions. With the offshore sea mist only clearing slowly and the safety of swimmers paramount, a decision was made to adapt the course from a triangular one to a 3.6km race parallel to the shoreline.
Swimmers from all over the UK entered the race. We hope to see you all again at one of our future events.
Results, placings, photos and videos have been posted.

Swim 21
Take me to your leader! Open water swimming can be great fun but it can only be fully appreciated if you are a strong swimmer, and this is achieved through training and advanced learning. As this can be a long process, the ASA want to help people along the way before they themselves go out to share the knowledge they have gained.
If you are a confident swimmer, why not start by helping lead some of the swimmer groups in our Club sea swims! And if you are keen to develop a career helping others to swim, the ASA runs a series of seminars on continuing professional development.
