Hampton Heath Open Air Pool

Well maintained pool with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool

My comment:
We managed to negotiate the AA Route Finder pretty well and apart from one small detour, arrived at the pool in good time. This was another beautifully maintained pool with nice friendly staff. We told the guy on reception what we doing and a chap standing behind us said that it was amazing what some people would do for a free swim! We changed back into our wet costumes and Dave checked with the lifeguard which of the 4 lanes should we swim in. It turned out that lessons were going on across all four so we could take our pick. The lane we chose was already being used by 3 or 4 swimmers but we managed to weave our way through them. Ali decided that it was getting a little crowded so retreated to the next lane and completed 1000 metres on breaststroke. This enabled her to hear some of the lane gossip. Apparently we were disrupting the other swimmers and actually overtaking by swimming down the middle of the lane! Dave was actually splashing them (how careless!). Meanwhile Ali overheard one of the swimming teachers point to us and said “Now look at those two and try and copy them” so we didn’t feel too bad. We completed our swim and after the team photos retired to the veranda overlooking the pool to enjoy tea and coffee. We didn’t make our 4th. lido as the traffic situation worsened in the capital. We drove back to Dorset, dropping Ali at Ringwood. A good day after a few trials and tribulations along the way.
