Chudleigh Community Swimming Pool

The pool opened in 1997, and is operated by the Chudleigh Community Project, using both paid and volunteer workers. It is the grounds of the primary school.

My comment:
We are about to start the first of our lido tours down to the West Country. Sally and Dave arrive around 7.45am to pick me up for the 1 ½ hour journey to Chudleigh. This was a pool that we had visited by accident about a month ago (my mistake!) and we have often referred to the delights of Chudleigh, well here we were! We ploughed our way through yet another monsoon “Will this bad weather ever end?” We arrive at 9.30am to be greeted by a cheery young lifeguard. The rain had eased off a little and we started our swim in the more gentle variety. The pool is 20 metres long, well loved and very much a community run affair as so many are in Devon. We completed our 80 lengths in good time with me again playing catchup. Our young friend told us that the only problem they had was occasional vandalism, which seemed almost difficult to believe in this part of the world. He made us a cup of tea and wished us well for the rest of our journey.
