Cottenham Open Air Pool

Depth 3 to 5 ft, open May to September. It is unusual in having raised sides, so that one goes up some steps and then down into the pool.

My comment:
This was the day we were to meet Oliver Merrington who had been very helpful and stopped us going wrong more than once. We made our way by car, with me driving this time. The girls were going to have a day relaxing away from lido driving and watery tales by exploring the William Morris Museum. After a number of detours (I have never come across so many road closed signs in all my life!) we arrived at the pool to be greeted by Oliver outside. It was good to see him and he quickly introduced us to the lady who managed the pool and the lifeguards. The pool was small and required 72 lengths to complete our mile. It was well maintained and the water was nicely clean. It was above ground with a plastic liner and we had to climb into it. A number of social swimmers joined us during our swim along with Oliver himself. This was a good start to the day.
